I Spoke Peach is an experimental collaboration with poet S.J. Ghaus and the Sileo Quartet. Rather than simply composing a score for a poetry reading, the work intricately weaves the sounds of the text and the strings to create one integrated æsthetic experience.
The text is treated like music—its constituent phonemes scattered through time and space across the ensemble—and the music is treated like text—moving with the flex and give of complex irregular English speech-rhythms.
I Spoke Peach was set to premiere in the Spring of 2020. The performance has since been delayed due to COVID-19.
